I've seen this numerous times in Pokhara - Nepali guys holding hands. Its not a gay thing but it is a sign of love and affection from a friendship perspective - Its in their culture, Guys sometimes hold the whole hand but more common is for them to hold onto a couple of fingers or the wrist. Apparently this is until its time to get married - to a girl! Nepalis are very shy when it comes to the whole business of natural life. From what I have seen their sex education is a little on the conservative side.
Often just sitting by the lake reveals a wealth of nature, passing just yards away. Plenty of red Chameleons, these 2 below having a dispute - yes its a nasty fight going on there.
And then there are the herds of buffalo that aimlessly wander, grazing and taking a dip in the lake.

If a Nepali reader would like to come forward and offer a definitive or corrective reason for the holding hands business i'd be happy to rewrite the article.
