The Eagle and Earthquake, Pokhara, May 2015

Early morning lake and the Buffalo's taking full advantage of the calmness before the locals wake u,. and early morning is the best time to catch a view of the mountains since by mid morning the will be completely enveloped as the heat and humidity builds towards afternoon rains.

The airport is a good place to hangout - well, the local winged birds think so! A good variety can be spotted over a few hours here, especially birds of prey - Black Kites and White Vultures. Numerous quantities of Bulbuls and Shrikes flitting around underneath the airports runway final flight-path.

May 17th and and another quake hits Nepal. Not as strong as April and further away from Pokhara - somewhere near Mount Everest according to the news. Still, quite a jolt felt here. People running into the street fearful of buildings collapsing. Yes, its another adrenaline moment where it could all end rather badly. Actually, it lasts about 2 seconds and appears to be pretty a pretty weak affair in comparison to the 7.9 rupture.

Stomping back to lakeside then and taking a little more notice on how the quality of construction is shaping up - a long way from Western standards that's certain and plain to see.

Another Quake!
